You are better off using (powerful) physical attacks, like No Mercy, as he doesn't have a weakness to any elementals >> Though be sure to cast 'reflect' with Carbuncle, as you need to do in the battle with Garlard beforehand (both have fairly formidable magic OO). Mighty Guard and other things like that are also helpful, as is making sure your HP is high enough to withstand the battle without healing too much (damn Carbuncle bad effects>>). You would not believe how many times I died before I worked that lot out >> But it's great fun, cause he has smexiful music ^^
